Newborn Notes To My Past Self

  1. From the first moment they fall into your arms, smell the delicious scent of their head. They smell so delicious and will make you fall in love with them and your new life.

  2. Watch their facial expressions as they wake, when they are drowsy, and especially when they are milk drunk. They will make you laugh and forget any ailments.

  3. Spend time simply skin to skin with this being that was in your belly. Enjoy the moment of connection, knowing they are on their path to independence.

  4. As hard as it is to hear at first, know that crying babies are going to latch to the breast better and feed well. Let them be fed in nothing but their diaper. Warm and coddled babies will be too comfortable and become lazy to latch.

  5. Watch them dream 💭 Newborns are so animated and watching their movements and expressions will keep you entertained.

  6. Spend time watching at their little fingers and toes wriggle. They’ll never be as small as they are right now.

  7. Playtime with bub is being present. Watch his facial expression’s change and flow. It’ll keep you on your toes, how quickly a smile can scrunch into a face of dismay.

  8. Stay vigilant at the nappy changing station. You may be collateral the first time baby boy pees while changing his diaper.

  9. A well fed baby will fall asleep while on the boob - cherish the closeness and don’t rush to take them off.

  10. You and your health are important too. Make sure you try to sleep when the baby sleeps. The dishes and other things can wait.
